When the Morgan brothers discovered the caves in 1912, they would never have imagined that five generations later their descendants would still be running the caves.
The Morgan family descendants, however, have kept the caves running despite two world wars, numerous depressions and recessions, foot and mouth outbreaks, cost of living crises, and more recently the worldwide Covid pandemic.
Today, there are three show caves, one of the world’s largest dinosaur parks, a Shire Horse Centre and farm, playgrounds, an Iron Age farm, plus a gift shop, and a coffee shop.
Today, Ashford Price, the Chairman of the show caves, looks after all the developments and plans for the future of the complex. His son James helps with these decisions and also works on financial details for the company. Nicky, his wife, is the company secretary. Sara, Ashford’s daughter, runs the farming side and the Shire Horse Centre, and James’ son, Josh, joined the company recently and helps run the show caves.
But it was all started by two brothers simply wanting to know where all the water was coming from that flowed out of a mountain …
